State of the Brendan:
Short Writings on Various Topics
Life: Life is hard, frustrating, and unpredictable. But for that reason it's also precious, exciting, and bittersweet.
Art: Art is essentially a manifestation of human experience. It is the making material an idea filtered through the mind of an individual. Its only purpose is to relate or create experience. Of course, I could be wrong.
Love: A biological phenomenon designed to secure the procreation of a species. That isn't to say it should not be enjoyed, or that it is devoid of meaning.
Possessions: Possessions are acquired to reflect the inner state of their owner. Objects are collected that resonate. The acquiring of objects is seen as accomplishment.
Money: Money is not a substitute for being interesting. Money can help you accomplish a goal, but should not be an end in itself. Having a collection of money is about the most boring collection you could have.
Music: I've never met anyone who didn't like music.
Technology: Boring. Unless it involves hover cars or time-travel. In other words, science should be used for societal advancement and understanding, not the procurement of money.
Girls: Again, relating to procreation. But they're really nice and soft. Plus their brains work differently and that's kind of neat. (and paul says) "the more you know of them, the more you know you'll never know them"
